Pen Pals
Mrs. Weston's a swell lady. She lives in New York City and she has a dog she takes real good care of. She writes a lot of neat stuff about this girl, Lottie, growing up. Lottie had a friend, Hess, but he died. Hess was a swell kid and Lottie missed him a lot. Mrs. Weston has her own blog at http://lesleycweston.blogspot.com/. She's won a lot of competitions and had her stories published. You can read about it on her blog. She's written a whole book, too. It won second place in a big contest.
Kirk's a swell writer. He wrote a story about a cat house in Texas. Only he didn't write about the cats. All he did was talk about the women who lived in the house. It's not boring, though. There's lots of fighting and shooting going on. There's an excerpt from The Journey of Addie Boyd on his website at http://wislogger.squarespace.com/. He's written a neat book about Jesse James, too: Seven Days in Missouri. And he's writing another one about real, live Indians and a mean old preacher. Look for Wild Willa. It's swell.
Roisin Moriarty is gifted. She's Irish and she's got curly red hair just like Blanche Spann. She says I shouldn't say swell so much. She says I need to expand my vocabulary. Mrs. Weston told me to say Roisin Moriarty is gifted. Roisin Moriarty's written a lot of poems and short stories and a whole book about Irish history and legends, The Willow Tree of Tullamaine. She has her own website at http://roisinmoriarty.squarespace.com. There's a lot of neat stuff on it telling writers how to write better.
HavePenWillScribble's awesome. He writes a book a week. He's written about a dozen. His real name's Guregu Kaatsu. I think he must be Aztec or something. He knows more words than there are in the dictionary. He's expanded my vocabulary. My dad's face got all red when I asked him to explain something Guregu had written. Guregu's website address is http://veinarmor.com/. If you don't know what the words he uses mean, you can look them up in the dictionary on Roisin Moriarty's website.
Modobenny's written a neat book about kids who have a lot of weird dreams and fall into the ground and meet up with talking vegetables and stuff. She's also written one about a friend of hers who does all kinds of crazy things, and she's writing another about this spooky old lady who decides when she turns thirty to murder all her girlfriends from school. Her site's at www.loribentleylaw.com. Modobenny's not her real name. She hasn't got curly red hair like Blanche Spann, but she's cool anyway.
VBWaverider has this dog, Gabby, that helps him write. I don't know how. I've got a dog too, Scrappy. He can sit up and beg and lie down and roll over and play dead, but he never helps me write. You can go to http://www.thenextbigwriter.com/library/authors.html/vbwaverider and click on All About Me to see how Gabby helps VBWaverider write. That's not his real name. It's his pen name. He chose it because he lives near Virginia Beach and surfs a lot. His real name's Lee.
Dur Shacho raises ponies in New Hampshire and you can read neat stuff about them at: www.icelandic-creations.com. He wrote a book about Kentucky Fried Chicken, too. Well, he didn't really write a book about fried chicken. It's about international business intrigue and industrial spying and gangsters and you can read all about it at this site: http://thenextbigwriter.com/library/index.html/toc/13109. He's also written stuff for kids and a book telling fat people how to lose weight.
Jayla McTyson hails from Jamaica and she's a real wordsmith. She writes books for kids and grown-ups. Her books for kids are about Christine and her brother, Sam. Her books for grown-up are full of suspense. Her website is: http://www.thejamaicanwriter.com. You can also keep up with what she writes as she posts it on: thenextbigwriter.com/library/authors.html/wordsmith.
